Convenient Neighborhood Locations

The Texas Exes alumni association has launched a new merit-based scholarship program for students at the University of Texas at Austin.

The 40 Acres Scholars Program will offer recipients a full four-year scholarship, covering tuition, fees, books and living expenses. Recipients will also receive priority housing in honors residence halls and funding for summer program such as study abroad, public service and internships.

"This program will uniquely expand UT's role of 'changing people, who then change the world,' by identifying top scholars with leadership potential and creating a student experience unlike any other on campus," said Jim Boon, executive director of the Texas Exes.

The goal of the 40 Acres Scholars Program is to build an endowment of $150 million. Income from the endowment will support up to 75 students each year. Over time, it will serve a steady group of about 300 students, making it one of the largest merit-based scholarship programs in the country.

Texas Exes, the alumni association for the University of Texas at Austin, has nearly 87,000 members.

However, some colleges and departments administer their own scholarship programs through a separate application process. This $2500 scholarship offer is for housing in TSH off campus dormitories in AUSTIN, COLLEGE STATION, DENTON and SAN MARCOS TEXAS. Freshmen at TWU and TSU are required to live on campus unless they are granted a waiver by the university.
